Modern-Day Spiritual Vampires. How To Handle Or Avoid Them. 

In today’s society, we often hear about vampires in fictional stories and I bet most of your favorite Tv shows are focused on vampires and the world of vampires, but there is a new kind of vampire lurking in our lives -I call them spiritual vampires. These are people who drain our energy and take advantage of our kindness and vulnerability, leaving us exhausted and depleted, in most cases these individuals are people that are in power such as CEOs or our superiors in our various offices, another group are the Dibia/Spiritualists, or pastors and finally within our immediate environment, we have our friends and family members who lurk in the dark sucking off our energy.

These Spiritual vampires feed off the energy of others, through sexual relations, exchange of items, sharing of clothes and through our goodwill. They can be found in all areas of life, including family, friends, colleagues, and even strangers. They exhibit behaviors that drain the energy of those around them, leaving them tired and worn out.

What happens when these Spiritual Vampires are people with power or access to cosmic knowledge or information such as the Dibia, pastor, or spiritualist, how can you recognize them?

These kinds of individuals are quite subtle and manipulative, they may not outrightly present themselves in ways that would put you off your guard, but they are waiting for you to be vulnerable before they would establish themselves. They would first rein you in, with promises of success or wealth after the performance of a sort of spiritual work but would subtly cue in a clause, an obligation which you have to fulfill before such a work would manifest the intention you desire. 

This is their attempt to suck up your energy if you give them the opportunity they seek. In most cases, they use fear to achieve these aims and when fear is applied in conjunction with a tiny amount of pressure, individuals who aren’t well-informed could give them access to suck them up.

We may be inclined to ask, why don’t these deities or spirits fight these Dibia’s who turned themselves into spiritual vampires. My knowledge of Odinaani, may be different from yours, this has allowed me to understand that Igbo deities are not as vengeful as we portray them, because these individuals do not function by the principles of Odinaani, therefore these principles do not hold them in contempt. They rather function or operate with Ogwu. This means they can get away with some of the things they do, unless they are being stopped by their own spiritual forces such as; Ndi-Ichie or Ajaani.

The following are some of the common traits of spiritual vampires:

1. They constantly seek attention: Spiritual vampires always want to be the center of attention. They need validation and attention from others to feel good about themselves.
2. They are negative: Spiritual vampires tend to focus on negative aspects of life. They see the glass as half-empty, and they are quick to criticize and complain.
3. They are emotionally needy: Spiritual vampires often rely on others for emotional support. They seek sympathy and empathy, but they rarely reciprocate.
4. They lack empathy: Spiritual vampires are often unable to put themselves in others’ shoes. They are insensitive to others’ feelings and needs.
5. They are manipulative: Spiritual vampires are skilled at manipulating others to get what they want. They are experts at guilt-tripping and emotional blackmail.

Now that we understand the traits of spiritual vampires, it is essential to know how to handle or avoid them. Here are some tips to help:

1. Set Boundaries: Establishing boundaries is crucial when dealing with spiritual vampires. You should be clear about what you are willing to tolerate and what you are not. You can communicate your boundaries firmly but politely.
2. Don’t Engage: One way to avoid being drained by spiritual vampires is by not engaging with them. You can choose to disengage from conversations that are draining or make you feel uncomfortable.
3. Take Care of Yourself: It is essential to take care of yourself when dealing with spiritual vampires. You can do this by engaging in activities that energize you, such as exercise, reading, or spending time in nature.
4. Practice Self-Awareness: Being aware of your emotions and energy levels is essential when dealing with spiritual vampires. You can observe your reactions to certain people or situations and take steps to protect your energy.
5. Seek Support: If you are struggling to handle or avoid spiritual vampires, seek support from trusted friends, family members, or a professional counselor.

In conclusion, modern-day spiritual vampires can be challenging to deal with, but there are ways to handle or avoid them. By setting boundaries, not engaging, taking care of yourself, practicing self-awareness, and seeking support, you can protect your energy and avoid being drained. Remember, it is okay to prioritize your well-being, and it is not selfish to distance yourself from people who drain your energy.
